Hello Everyone...Life is Good! I am filled with passions, optimism and excitement! In a very unpredictable economic climate, we will soon be celebrating our 6th year. More importantly my dad is in good health. We are very thankful to have such a wonderful staff so committed to customer service. My dad and I wonder what we did to deserve such loyal customers. I am thrilled with our upcoming wine tasting schedule. I love a challenge and I enjoy pushing the envelope.

Equally important...We know every day is an opportunity to make a difference and we understand our responsibility to the community. Your business has allowed us to participate in philanthropic endeavors with local non-profit organizations and we will be very active the last quarter of the year.

Sip For A Cause...Meals On Wheels

Because we are passionate about our community we are especially interested in helping those in need. The mission of Meals On Wheels is to promote dignity and independence of the Disabled, the Elderly and other Homebound persons, by delivering nutritious meals.

October 4th-9th we will "Sip For A Cause" and donate 5% of our gross sales to meals on wheels. We have lined up an exceptional selection of wines for the wine tasting and we look forward to seeing you! I can't think of a better reason to shop and "Sip For A Cause"!

Wine Trend

These are my 5 picks for wine trends driving me for the next 12 months
1) Food & Wine Pairing - Make an effort to pair food and wine that are perfectly matched. There are two schools of thought and both are completely agreeable to me; take a traditional approach to food and wine that traditionally pair well or push the envelope and put a twist on things. We are always available to assist you with wine selections, once you have decided on a menu. If you need additional "hand holding" feel free to Facebook, text, call or stop by and talk with Heidi. I am always happy to assist you with food and wine suggestions.

2) Champagne or "bubbly" is NOT just for New Year's Eve or weddings. I am an advocate of "bubbly" 24/7...365 days a year. I enjoy less expensive "bubbly" most of the time and I really enjoy French Champagne for extra special occasions. I am sitting on the back of a friend's boat in Ventura, writing to you, on a Sunday afternoon and I happen to be enjoying Heidsieck & Co Blue Top Champagne. I brought a half-bottle which ensures I will finish the newsletter!

3) Syrah...there is nothing better than a full flavored Syrah! It is less Jammy than many Zinfandels but carries enough weight so you can enjoy it with barbecue beef or pork. It took me a long time to understand Syrah but when the light finally went on, it was magic!

4) Unoaked Chardonnay - For those of you that are addicted to oak...get yourself into a 12 step program so you can enjoy the subtleties of an Unoaked Chardonnay. I NEVER drink an oaked Chardonnay with food because there is just too much going on in the glass and it makes it nearly impossible to pair with food. If I am going to enjoy a Chardonnay, it is going to be without food. If I am going to drink Chardonnay with food...it will have NO oak. Test my theory...you might be pleasantly surprised:)

5) While many are claiming French and Italian wines to be "dead" I disagree 100%. I agree that these esoteric wines are more challenging because they are not as enjoyable as stand-alone wines (without food). The beauty of these wines is that they are absolutely magic, when pair with the right food. I encourage you to try Italian wines with Italian food and French wines with French food. If you find French food too finicky then try them with French cheese. I guarantee you will expand your palate and enhance the experience.
